Home to several insightful bases walks, Uluru is one of the best places in Australia to immerse yourself in ancient Aboriginal culture. 53 kilometres west of Uluru is Kata Tjuta, the other main feature in Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park. Made of up of 36 imposing domed rock formations, Kata Tjuta means many heads in the local Anangu language. Kata Tjuta also offers magnificent sunrise and sunset viewing opportunities and is home to Walpa Gorge and Valley of the Winds, two walking trails that will take you between the 36 towering domes. Northeast of Uluru is the outback town of Alice Springs, affectionately known as the Alice.
